In a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB), the primary frame usually gets most of the attention. Columns, rafters, roofing sheets and purlins are frequently discussed when evaluating a PEB project. But some relatively small components can have an important role in the performance of the overall secondary framing system.

When torque is applied to a fastener, most of the applied torque is associated with overcoming friction in the threads and under the nut/bolt head. Only a portion contributes directly to bolt tension.

Its symmetrical and straightforward geometry makes it relatively easy to handle, cut and install. C purlins are particularly useful when a simple-span arrangement is appropriate and there is no requirement for the type of overlapping continuity commonly achieved with Z purlins.

A wrong design assumption, poor material selection, improper fabrication or careless erection can create problems that are expensive to correct later.

In a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB), the main structural system is made of fabricated steel components such as columns, rafters, bracings and secondary members. However, many PEB projects also include brick walls, block walls, partition walls, office areas, toilets, utility rooms and other masonry construction.

When planning a Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) for a factory, warehouse, logistics park, commercial building, industrial shed, or manufacturing plant, one of the biggest decisions is whether the PEB steel structure should be fabricated inside a factory or directly at the construction site.
